Baggage restrictions eased at Gatwick

Baggage restrictions eased at Gatwick
The one-bag rule for hand luggage is to be relaxed at Gatwick Airport.

While the restriction was eased at other BAA airports in January, Gatwick delayed the move while new x-ray and archway technology was installed.

Now passengers will be able to take more than one piece of hand luggage through security from March 31st.

However, travellers have been urged to double-check the rules with their airlines, as some carriers may still be choosing to adhere to the one-bag regulation.

"Airport signage is being revised to reflect these changes. Passengers with any questions about the regulations should speak to their airline or a member of airport staff," a statement from Gatwick Airport said.

The airport recently predicted that it would see more than 600,000 passengers pass through its gates over the Easter weekend. More than 2.3 million flyers used the hub over the course of February.
