Munich celebrates its 850th birthday this year and is set to hold its annual two-day Stadtgrundungsfest festival in June to mark the occasion.
Taking place on June 14th and 15th, the event will be held in Marienplatz and will consist of a host of performances and attractions for all.
Visitors to
Munich can expect to take in live musical performances, a variety of dance shows, an arts and crafts market and a special children's mini-festival across both days.
Parades and processions will also be the order of the weekend, while the festival is ideally located close to some of Munich's most popular attractions.
You could check out the spectacular Frauenkirche cathedral or the city's new and old town halls while at the event, or simply duck into a nearby pub or two.
Other sights in Munich include the Nymphenburg Palace, St Peter's Church and the daily Viktualienmarkt, a market selling a host of Bavarian goods.
See the website of the
Munich tourist office for more details.
