Eastern Airways has announced that it is to launch non-stop flights from
Newcastle Airport to
Stavanger in
Norway next month.
The daily service will begin on May 12th and will replace previous flights that journeyed from the north-east to Stavanger via
Aberdeen.
Passengers looking to take advantage of the new service will be able to take off from Newcastle at 09:50 BST, landing in Stavanger at 12:40 local time. The return leg departs at 13:10 local time, arriving in Newcastle at 14:00 BST.
"After initially establishing a connecting service via Aberdeen, which showed there was demand for daily services between north-east England and Stavanger, business travellers will now be able to make significant time savings with our new, convenient non-stop flights from Newcastle," commented Chris Holliday, chief operating officer at Eastern Airways.
Stavanger is currently the European Capital of Culture 2008. Some of its attractions include its various lighthouses and churches, as well as numerous museums and the Kongeparken theme park.
The region is also home to a number of natural sights, such as the Manafossen falls and the spectacular Pulpit Rock.
