Holidaymakers looking to make their breaks more
eco-friendly can do so in a number of different ways, according to one expert.
John Buckley, founder of advice provider Carbon Footprint, suggested that travellers try to get around their holiday destination on foot, bicycle or public transport wherever possible rather than renting a car.
Even where travellers must hire a car, they could opt for a relatively environmentally-friendly option rather than a large gas guzzler, he said.
"Buying local food ... is always a good idea. If you're staying in hotels, make sure you don't overuse air conditioning - only use it when it's really needed," Mr Buckley commented.
A recent poll by Cahoot found that two in five Britons are prepared to pay up to ten per cent extra for eco-friendly goods and services, including items that are organic, recycled or energy efficient.
