One of the most popular festivals in
Toronto returns to the city this summer.
The Luminato festival takes place between June 6th and 15th and sees various venues across Toronto host a range of arts exhibitions, displays and performances.
Visitors to the city can expect to take in a wide variety of theatre, dance, classical and contemporary music, film, literature, visual arts and design, with some 50 free events taking place in 30 different venues.
Last year's festival attracted one million attendees and organisers are hoping to repeat this success in 2008. This year the event will see the world premiere of Kevin Loring's Where the Blood Mixes and a 40th anniversary reading of George Ryga's The Ecstasy of Rita Joe.
Musical performances by the Kronos Quartet and Tanya Tagaq will also play a significant part in the festival.
Travellers heading to
Toronto to take in this diverse festival may also want to take in cultural attractions such as the Royal Ontario Museum, the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Gardiner Museum.
Take a look at the
Luminato festival website for more information.
