A new route between
Newcastle and
Stavanger has been launched by
Eastern Airways today (May 12th).
The daily non-stop flights take off from Newcastle at 09:50 BST, arriving in the Norwegian city at 12:40 local time. The return leg departs at 13:10 local time and lands in Newcastle at 14:00 BST.
These new flights replace a previous Eastern Airways service that flew to
Stavanger from Newcastle via
Aberdeen.
"We have provided travellers with a comprehensive network of domestic services from Newcastle for many years and our first non-stop international route from the airport links the vibrant north-east with the European culture capital," commented Chris Holliday, chief operating officer at Eastern Airways.
Stavanger has been named one of this year's European Capitals of Culture. Some 1,000 arts and cultural events are set to take place
in the city as part of the celebrations over the course of 2008.
