Scheduled
flights to Geneva from
Birmingham Airport were particularly popular among UK travellers during the month of April, according to new figures.
Statistics released by the airport show that passengers numbers on the route surged by 533.1 per cent last month compared with the April 2007.
Other popular scheduled flights in terms of passenger growth included those to
Bratislava,
Warsaw,
Inverness,
Chambery,
Dusseldorf and
Paphos.
According to the airport, more than 712,000 flyers passed through its gates last month, representing an increase of 6.2 per cent compared with last year.
"These figures represent even more good news for the airport and we are delighted that it is yet another record-breaking month," remarked Joe Kelly, acting managing director at Birmingham Airport.
German carrier
Lufthansa recently launched a new route to
Hamburg from Birmingham Airport, with flights taking off from the hub six times a week in total.
