New York could be an ideal destination for travellers looking for a summertime city break, according to a tourism executive.
According to George Fertitta, chief executive officer of NYC & Company, the Big Apple boasts "almost guaranteed warm weather" and suggested that out-of-town travellers may wish to soak up the sun with the locals on one of the city's numerous rooftop terraces.
Mr Fertitta explained that Queens in particular is an up-and-coming cultural destination for many visitors to the city, with DJs playing on the roof of the PS1 Contemporary Art Centre during the summer months.
Sun-loving beach fans may also be interested in the nearby Long Island City Beach, which can be reached in less than five minutes via water taxi from Manhattan, he added.

New York is a "particularly vibrant destination" in the summer, with a number of fantastic restaurants in Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island - as well as the world-famous Little Italy in The Bronx.
Some 1.12 million Britons are thought to have taken a
flight to New York in 2006, according to nycvisit.com.
