A new report has shed light on some of the most popular destinations for young travellers.
Produced by the World Youth, Student and Educational (WYSE) Travel Confederation and the UN World Tourism Organisation (UNTWO), the publication suggests that
Australia, the
USA and
France are currently top of youth travellers' lists.
However, an emerging breed of young globetrotters is increasingly travelling to locations such as
Japan,
Spain and
Germany for the purpose of picking up a new language, according to the report.
"Demand from student travellers for a broader range of language travel products – combined with a series of industry mergers and acquisitions – have opened up new locations for the language travel market," a statement from the WYSE Travel Confederation and the UNTWO read.
Furthermore, the two organisations identified the rise of so-called flashpackers, consisting of older backpackers with money to burn.
Earlier this month, American Express released survey findings suggesting that a growing number of Britons are seeking to take a
gap year or sabbatical from work in order to go travelling.
