Hostels 'ideal' for young families

Hostels 'ideal' for young families
Families looking to save cash on their holidays this summer could consider staying in a hostel rather than a full-priced hotel.

According to Paul Fearn of the Youth Hostel Association (YHA), young families are increasingly finding that staying in a hostel is a viable option.

He explained that a typical family of six could be able to find lodgings for between £70 and £80 a night at a hostel and benefit from factors such as self-catering facilities, a private space and the ability to come and go as they please.

"We have hostels right on the beach, or on the coast … It's our locations that are key, whereas if you go to a cheap hotel you might be stuck in a grotty part of town away from the centre," Mr Fearn commented.

Earlier this week, charity Christians Against Poverty advised British holidaymakers to plan well ahead for their annual breaks in order to avoid falling into debt on their return.
