British Airways has announced that it is to undertake an 18-month project to revamp its facilities for premium flyers at JFK Airport in
New York.
The airline will begin work next month to build a new premium check-in pavilion complete with dedicated kerbside drop-off for its first class and Executive Club Gold passengers, as well as a new check-in area for Club World and Executive Club Silver customers at the
airport.
It also said that intends to renovate its Terraces, First Class and Concorde Lounges to match those at
Heathrow Terminal 5 and make all of the enhanced facilities as
environmentally-friendly as possible.
"The redevelopment project is perfectly timed as British Airways plans to expand the number of flights to the UK as well as launch this June its new OpenSkies airline operating between Paris and New York," explained Robin Hayes, Americas executive vice president for British Airways.
Earlier this month, the carrier confirmed that it is to begin moving some of its long-haul flights - including those to
New York - from Heathrow Terminal 4 to Terminal 5.
