The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued another warning to holidaymakers over the perils of carrying potentially dangerous items onboard flights.
It said that goods such as culinary blowtorches, fireworks and other explosives, petrol, lighter fuel and weed killer carry restrictions due to the risk they pose to inflight safety.
Flyers have also been warned that failing to pack batteries properly could result in a fire, something that occurred on a transatlantic flight last year.
"Passengers frequently travel with electronic gadgets and, although the batteries in these rarely pose a safety problem, if they are loose or the equipment is inadvertently activated there is a danger of fire," commented Geoff Leach, manager of the dangerous goods office at the CAA.
Holidaymakers should check their tickets and their airline website to make sure they are allowed to carry certain items, the CAA advised.
Restrictions on liquids that can be carried onto flights are still in place.
