London boasts a host of "must-see" attractions that are top of the sightseeing list for many tourists, it has been claimed.
According to a spokesperson for Visit London, tourists in the capital can take advantage of a wide range of sights and activities catering for every taste.
She noted that the British Museum was the most popular free attraction in
London last year, with the London Eye taking the honours for the busiest paid-for sight.
"Alongside these major attractions, London has an excellent range of smaller museums, galleries and attractions," the spokesperson remarked.
"Visitors to London benefit from the breadth and diversity of things to see and do in the capital, both modern and historic," she added.
The London Visitor Survey for the first three months of 2008 revealed that about one-third of foreign visitors to London stayed in the
city for at least eight nights, while British tourists tended to stay for between one and three nights in total.
