Singapore Airlines has another major
award to add its ever-growing collection.
The carrier received the accolade of airline of the year at the OAG Airline Industry Awards ceremony earlier this week. It also won two other titles, including best first class.
Singapore Changi was also voted best airport, while UK airlines were well represented with the likes of
British Airways and
Virgin Atlantic picking up a raft of prizes.
"This is a very special night for Singapore. Our congratulations go to the airline, the airport, the government and the people of Singapore," remarked Alan Glass, chief executive of OAG.
Virgin Atlantic was voted best western European airline, while British Airways won the awards of best
transatlantic airline and best business/executive class.
Singapore Airlines recently opened its new SilverKris Lounge at Suvarnabhumi International Airport in
Bangkok, which will be used exclusively by its premium passengers.
