Gatwick Airport has the shortest security waiting times out of the top ten busiest European
airports.
This is according to a survey carried out by Airports Council International, which saw passengers vote the
London airport into the top spot after it placed seventh last year.
Gatwick was up against hubs such as Schipol Airport in
Amsterdam, Charles De Gaulle International Airport in
Paris and airports in
Copenhagen,
Madrid and
Rome, among others.
"It is a testament to the dedication and commitment of our staff at Gatwick that has resulted in this excellent feedback from passengers," commented Andy Flower, Gatwick managing director.
Gatwick lifted the one-bag rule for hand luggage on flights departing from the hub in March this year, following the relaxing of the regulation at other UK airports in January.
The airport now has new x-ray and archway technology in its central search areas.
