Holidaymakers jetting overseas this summer have been advised to ensure they are prepared for every possibility before leaving for the airport.
Common travel problems include losing bags, having to obtain medical treatment while abroad and cancellations, according to Tesco Travel Insurance.
As a result, travellers would do well to find out what they should do in each of these circumstances should the need arise, the company said.
It would be wise to obtain written confirmation from airlines or other travel firms of any delays during the journey, with this information then being passed on to the relevant travel insurer.
In the event that loss or theft of possessions occurs, holidaymakers must report the case to the police within 24 hours or get in touch with their airline,
accommodation provider or tour representative, Tesco stated, adding that travellers should contact their insurer if they need to obtain treatment for serious medical conditions as soon as possible.
Another insurer, esure, recently advised Britons travelling to the
USA during hurricane season to check with the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office for any weather warnings before setting off.
