The Caribbean is the most popular destination among families looking to splash out on a luxury holiday, according to one expert.
Alyson Cook of Luxury Travel Magazine said that the sun-drenched hotspot is attractive to British families due to a number of its islands offering
child-friendly amenities and attractions.
Antigua,
Barbados and
Jamaica are particularly good for providing facilities of this kind, while the high number of direct flights operating to the Caribbean, as well as the region's excellent weather, are also important factors, Ms Cook remarked.
When asked whether the credit crunch would affect the popularity of luxury breaks among families, she said: "Family holidays are usually the last thing to go rather than the first thing to go, which used to be the trend in the UK some years ago, but we are now finding the reverse is true."
An email survey conducted by the magazine earlier this year found that the majority of respondents believed spending on luxury travel will increase for the 2008-2009 season.
