Manchester Airport will celebrate its 70th birthday later this month.
The hub will mark seven decades since its establishment as Manchester (Ringway) Airport on June 25th, with the airport set to put on a slew of events in honour of the occasion.
As well as several dignitary dinners and a family day, the airport's biggest celebration will come when it finishes the construction of the
Concorde hangar.
The airport has expanded over the years to the extent that it now serves in the region of 22 million passengers a year - compared with 8,000 in the 1930s.
Andrew Cornish, managing director of Manchester Airport, commented: "The airport has changed beyond recognition from those early days and we are constantly innovating and improving Manchester Airport to make sure that we give our passengers what they want."
The £1 million Concorde hangar and visitor centre was announced in January this year and will provide a new home for a Concorde plane previously owned by
British Airways that has been on display at the hub since 2003.
