Travellers passing through
Southampton Airport can now take advantage of brand new facilities to speed up the check-in process.
The airport has spent more than £3 million on new check-in desks and self-service kiosks, with two of these kiosks located in the short-stay car park to enable flyers to check-in before even entering the building.
Passengers are also able to check in online before leaving for the
airport, while baggage handling systems at the hub have been improved to increase the number of bags that can be processed every hour.
Dave Lees, director of planning and development at Southampton Airport, commented: "The installation of 13 new check-in facilities will benefit the time-conscious passenger by providing additional choice for check-in."
The aviation industry is increasingly getting to grips with technology - earlier this month, the International Air Transport Association announced the end of paper ticketing and the start of a new era after its deadline for member airlines to implement 100 per cent
e-ticketing passed.
