British holidaymakers travelling to
Europe and the
USA could soon find it easier to obtain foreign currency following a Post Office trial of euro and dollar cash machines.
The organisation is testing the machines at 13 branches and could launch a nationwide rollout of the initiative if the trial proves successful, the Times reports.
Helen Warburton, head of travel for the Post Office, told the newspaper that the ATM scheme is intended to make life easier for holidaymakers.
"It will take the pressure off queues," she said. "It will be much more convenient."
The Post Office is not the only organisation to offer cash machines dispensing foreign currency, as Marks & Spencer introduced the facilities at 21 of its stores this year and HSBC reportedly plans to launch them at railway stations and shopping centres.
Travellers are advised to exchange their money before arriving at their holiday destination, as overseas cash withdrawal can charge a commission of up to 5.25 per cent.
