SummerStage to bring Central Park to life
The famous Central Park in New York will be full of even more energy and excitement than usual over the coming months as it hosts SummerStage.
This annual festival is one of the city's most famous and popular seasonal institutions, bringing free music, film, theatre and dance to visitors and locals every summer.
A variety of artists and performance groups will appear this year, ranging from legendary rock stars and funk bands to contemporary dance groups.
Mark Knopfler, the former frontman of Dire Straits, will bring his sound to the stage on July 23rd, followed by a concert combining ska and blues artists such as Taj Mahal and Skatalites on July 27th.
Visitors with an interest in literature may want to visit Central Park on July 31st when it will host an evening with modern crime novelists Richard Price and Charles Bock.
Jill Scott and Wyclef Jean will be among the artists bringing SummerStage to a close when they perform on August 12th, before soul and funk groups including the Menahan Street Band appear on August 17th.
