Travellers are expected to be given a new passion for
Australia this year with the release of a new movie.
The film, called simply Australia, stars Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman and is directed by Baz Luhrmann, the man behind movies such as Moulin Rouge and Romeo & Juliet.
While it will pack plenty of star power, one of the film's most important aspects will be the stunning settings and landscapes of Australia.
The story, which will see Nicole Kidman's English aristocrat falling in love with an outback cattleman, played by Huch Jackman, will take in large sweeps of Western Australia, Darwin and the Top End.
According to Tourism Australia, the release of the film is set to create a "phenomenal buzz" among travellers looking for
holiday destinations with star quality.
The movie could have a similar effect in Australia to the phenomenon that occurred in
New Zealand following the release of the Lord of the Rings movies between 2001 and 2003.
Cinemagoers in the UK will be able to see Australia when it is released at Christmas this year. Visit the film's
website for more information.
