Travel & Leisure magazine has announced the winners of its 2008 World's Best Awards, with
Bangkok taking the top city accolade.
Readers of the magazine ranked the Thai capital ahead of
Buenos Aires,
Cape Town,
Sydney and
Florence. Cuzco in
Peru,
Rome,
New York,
Istanbul and
San Francisco completed the top ten.
Singapore Airlines received more praise by winning the top international airline award, ahead of
Emirates,
Thai Airways and
Cathay Pacific.
In the
hotels section of the awards, the top prize went to the Four Seasons resort in Hawaii, followed by the Oriental in
Bangkok and
Los Angeles' Hotel Bel Air.
The Domain de Hauts de Loire in Onzain,
France and the Tortilis Camp at Amboseli national park,
Kenya also made it into the top ten.
Holidaymakers looking for a luxury break may be interested in the Leisure & Travel list of the world's top ten islands, which included Bali,
Indonesia; Easter Island,
Chile; Santorini,
Greece and the Great Barrier Reef islands of
Australia.
