Glasgow Airport begins skyhub countdown

Glasgow Airport begins skyhub countdown
The beginning of this week marked the start of the 100-day countdown to the full opening of skyhub, the new terminal extension at Glasgow Airport.

Skyhub's ground-floor domestic arrivals hall is scheduled to open on October 21st, while the first-floor security search area will be unveiled a few days later.

This new security zone will feature ten new X-ray machines that are hoped to provide quick and efficient passenger screening processes, giving travellers more time to relax before their flight.

Once through security, people flying from Glasgow Airport will be able to visit a number of new shops and eateries, including a Hugo Boss store, a Starbucks cafe and a Frankie and Benny's restaurant.

Airport managing director Gordon Dewar said: "The opening of skyhub, now just 100 days away, promises a better airport experience for passengers at Glasgow Airport, with fast, efficient security screening, more space to relax and a wider choice of bars, restaurants and shops.

"At a cost of £31 million, skyhub is a significant investment by BAA Glasgow in customer service and security, and signals our commitment to put passengers first at Glasgow Airport."

Travellers can catch flights from Glasgow Airport to destinations including Paris, Munich and Milan.
