Visitors to
New York this autumn may get the opportunity to see some exciting new films at the city's annual movie festival.
The 46th New York Film Festival will be held from September 26th to October 12th, with screenings taking place at the historic Ziegfeld Theatre.
Opening the event will be Lauren Cantet's film The Class, which won the Palme d'Or for best picture at this year's Cannes Film Festival.
Richard Pena, chair of the festival's selection committee, said: "The Class is the finest example yet of this filmmaker's important work and we're delighted to have it open this year's New York Film Festival."
The festival will also screen a number of films by Japanese director Nagisa Oshima and include a section called Views from the Avant-Garde, which will feature some of the best new experimental films from around the world.
