Croatia is currently a much more affordable holiday destination than many other countries in
Europe owing to the fact that it is outside the eurozone, it has been claimed.
The pound recently hit record lows in value against the euro and many holidaymakers could be looking to destinations that do not use the single European currency to save money.
A spokesperson for Charisma PR, which represents the Croatian tourist board, said: "[Croatia] is very reasonable because it is outside the eurozone, so it's still good value for money because the pound is not particularly strong against the euro at the moment."
The representative added: "It is a popular place to go and visitor numbers are growing year-on-year anyway."
According to Charisma PR, another factor in Croatia's favour is its regular flights, with services available from the UK to
Dubrovnik and
Split, among other destinations.
According to official statistics, there were 558,493 foreign visitors to Croatia between January and March this year, which was a 14 per cent increase on the corresponding period of 2007.
