Improvements to
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) are set to continue despite the financial turmoil currently being faced by the
USA airline industry.
According to the Los Angeles Times, building work aimed at bettering the travel experience for passengers using the hub will not be affected by the slump.
Airport officials have confirmed that the modernisation plans will proceed and that the economic troubles "won't slow us down for five years or so".
Gina Marie Lindsey, executive director of Los Angeles World Airports, added that in order to save money the group was making staff cuts and ridding the airport of services which are unable to pay for themselves.
Meanwhile, getting through security at LAX is expected to become even speedier in weeks to come with the reported introduction of a new shoe-scanning device.
The machine will allow travellers to be checked through security without having to take their shoes off which can often slow down the process of boarding.
