Mexico 'luxurious' and 'romantic' long haul destination
Mexico is fast becoming a popular long-hail holiday destination among people in the UK because it is 'romantic'.
That's according to Alyson Cook, editor of Luxury Travel magazine, who said that the country has long been popular with US holidaymakers because of its proximity.
A number of Hollywood stars visiting Mexico's resorts has also raised its profile as a desirable holiday location.
"Increasingly, I think Mexico is seen as a romantic destination for the UK luxury market," Ms Cook said.
"Mexico city has some hip hotels," she explained, adding that also popular are "Los Cabos and Baja California, and on the central Pacific coast there's a property called Las Alamandas which the A-listers like."
Actress and singer Jessica Simpson apparently holidayed with her parents in Cabo San Lucas earlier this year, while Britney Spears was also spotted soaking up the sun there in July.
