The majority of travellers would be in favour of an initiative to create separate areas on planes for
families with young children, according to research.
US-based consumer group airfarewatchdog.com surveyed 10,000 people and found that 85 per cent thought it was a good idea to separate those travelling with children from other passengers, the Telegraph reports.
James Freemantle, a spokesman for the Air Transport Users Council, said there was "no reason" why such a scheme could not be introduced.
He added: "Many airlines already use systems where passengers pick their own seating, so asking those travelling with children to sit in a certain section of the plane is entirely up to the airline."
The Telegraph asked
British Airways if it would consider segregating groups with young passengers from other travellers but did not receive a response from the airline.
Travellers also find it difficult to be tolerant of overweight co-passengers, according to the survey, with more than four out of five people saying that clinically obese fliers should be required to buy an extra seat.
