The unlikely cities of
Montreal and
Riga have been voted the world's leading locations for the new international Monopoly game.
Hasbro, the makers of Monopoly, received votes from some 5.6 million people as it asked the world's views on which cities should be made the most prominent for the new Monopoly Here and Now: The World Edition game.
The list of the five most expensive cities where players will be able to buy property in the new game was rounded off by
Cape Town, Belgrade and
Paris.
Other locations that will feature on the board include
New York,
Rome,
Vancouver and
Tokyo.
Helen Martin of Hasbro said in a statement: "We hope that fans of the world's most popular board game will enjoy buying, selling and trading real estate from around the globe in the new Monopoly game that they created with their votes.
"We are thrilled that the first-ever global game board includes an interesting mix of cities that showcases the dynamic cultures, sights and history of the planet."
The international version of Monopoly will be launched in more than 50 countries on August 26th.
