Brits 'prefer activities to relaxation'
British holidaymakers want activities to take part in on their holidays, according to research, with only a fifth of respondents to a survey saying they plan to "do nothing" on their next trip.
Trekking appears to be the most popular option, with 26 per cent of the people polled by Cater Allen saying they plan to go walking while on holiday.
More than one in ten (12 per cent) said they are eager to try scuba diving in popular hotspots such as Sharm el Sheikh or Australia, while five per cent said they would have a go at snowboarding or sandboarding.
Cater Allen claimed that these results are further evidence of Brits showing interest in alternatives to traditional family holidays in Europe and other mainstream locations.
Richard Dunn, the bank's managing director, said: "This research shows that Britons are moving away from the traditional European family holidays and becoming more adventurous in their holiday choices."
A recent survey by Cater Allen found that nearly two thirds (63 per cent) of British people are eager to go on long-haul holidays in the future.
