UK flights more punctual in Q2
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has released punctuality figures relating to UK flights in the second quarter of this year, revealing that overall on-time rates improved on the previous year.
Some 69 per cent of flights operated on time – defined as no more than 15 minutes late – between April and June, a one per cent improvement on 2007.
Gatwick Airport, Luton Airport and Stansted Airport all managed to improve their scheduled punctuality performance, as did all of the regional gateways monitored by the CAA.
Newcastle Airport achieved an on-time performance rating of 79 per cent between April and June, while at Edinburgh Airport 75 per cent of scheduled flights were on time.
The average delay recorded on scheduled flights across all ten of the monitored airports in the second quarter of this year was 17 minutes, the same as in the corresponding period of 2007.
Of the 75 scheduled and charter destinations with the most passengers from UK airports, Cardiff had the highest on-time performance of 87 per cent, while flights to Leeds-Bradford had the lowest average delay of seven minutes.
