All passengers 'want strong security at airports'
The Air Transport Users' Council (AUC) has stressed that all people, not just regular travellers such as business passengers, want security at airports to be efficient.
James Fremantle, industry affairs manager for the AUC, said the fact that corporate passengers spend more time in airports than most people does not mean they place more importance on safety than the average traveller.
Mr Fremantle also stressed that, while most people consider security an important issue, they do not want it to have too much of an effect on their movement through the airport.
"All passengers, not just business passengers, want strict and correct security but at the same time they don't want to be greatly inconvenienced by it," he said.
"They want good security but they also want it to be done efficiently so they are not delayed for ages trying to get through security queues."
Mr Fremantle said that travellers are generally happy to put their faith in the government and if it is decided that there needs to be more security at airports then "passengers will have to accept that".
This year's Barclaycard business travel survey found that 91 per cent of corporate customers feel safe when they are travelling through airports.
