It has been announced that
Orlando International Airport saw an increase in its number of international passengers in August.
The airport announced that growth in international traffic was continuing to help offset declines in domestic travel.
In total, nearly three million foreign passengers travelled through the
Florida gateway in August, an increase of 16 per cent compared to the same month last year.
Nearly 37 million travellers, international and domestic, passed through
Orlando International in the rolling 12 months to August this year, an increase of 3.6 per cent on the previous 12-month period.
In its annual
business travel awards, Conde Nast Traveller magazine ranked Orlando International as one of the top five airports nationwide in areas including ease of connections, shopping, food and comfort.
Next year could see international passenger numbers at the hub increase further as tourists take advantage of a new promotion from the Walt Disney company offering free entry to its
US parks for visitors who are celebrating their birthday.
