Birmingham Airport sees traffic rise in September
Birmingham Airport has announced that it carried 984,245 passengers in September, an increase of 1.5 per cent on the previous year.
The flow of traffic through the airport's two terminals comprised 687,139 scheduled travellers and 297,106 charter customers.
Routes within Europe saw growth of 14.5 per cent from Birmingham Airport in September, while services to Ireland carried 7.2 per cent more passengers.
A number of specific routes from Birmingham Airport saw a year-on-year increase in traffic in September, including its services to Bratislava, Milan and Paris.
Peter Vella, the airport's business development director, said: "September saw an increase in passengers travelling through the airport compared against the same month last year, which again reaffirms the reputation of Birmingham Airport as the region's gateway to the world.
"With the airport celebrating its busiest ever month in August and with a number of exciting new routes launching in the coming weeks and months, there has never been a better time for people to fly from their local airport."
Nearly 1.08 million people travelled through Birmingham Airport in August, following on from the gateway's busiest-ever July, which also saw passenger traffic pass the one million mark.
