Delta Airlines has announced that its
business class passengers will soon be offered fully-flat beds on its flights to
Heathrow Airport from
New York and
Atlanta.
The airline will install the seats on its Boeing 767 fleet in time for them to be available for summer 2009.
It was also announced that the airline will offer a third daily non-stop
flight between New York JFK and London Heathrow next year, which will be operated by its joint venture partner
Air France.
This additional service will give customers the option of a morning, early evening or late evening departure from
New York.
Glen Hauenstein, Delta's executive vice president of network planning, said: "Delta continues to listen to our customers' requests for enhanced service in the world's major markets and we are pleased to add the consistency of 180-degree full flat beds to all Delta flights operating at the world's no.1 business airport – Heathrow.
"The introduction of full-flat service onboard the Delta 767 fleet will enhance our position in the highly competitive US-to-Heathrow market."
Delta's transatlantic network also incorporates
Gatwick Airport, with a twice-daily service to
Atlanta and a daily flight to
Cincinatti.
