A group of representatives from
Liverpool Airport travelled to
Kuala Lumpur over the weekend to take part in the 14th World Route Development Forum.
This event, which began on October 12th and will end on the 14th, brings together delegates from airports across the world with more than 300 of the world's top airlines to discuss route development opportunities.
Liverpool Airport intends to promote its benefits to prospective airlines and also highlight the success of the Liverpool region with regards to economic regeneration, inward investment and tourism growth.
Representatives from the hub have around 40 meetings scheduled with airlines from across
Europe, the
USA, the
Middle East and Asia, which could lead to a number of exciting new flight connections.
Robin Tudor, head of PR for Liverpool Airport owners the Peel Airports Group, described the forum as "speed dating for airports and airlines".
He added: "If the airlines like what we have to say in our 20-minute sales pitch, then a relationship can be established that can lead to more business in the future.
"It is a great opportunity to be able to speak face to face with airlines from all over the world in an extremely cost effective way and get the message to them about all the great things happening in the region and how the airport can help them deliver access for their passengers to and from here."
