Skiers urged to remember insurance
People planning skiing holidays or any other winter sports trips have been urged to remember the importance of having comprehensive travel insurance.
According to moneysupermarket.com, one of the most important things for travellers to do is check the small-print of their insurance policies, as many packages include caveats and conditions.
Winter sports insurance policies generally include extras such as cover for sports equipment but can sometimes vary on the maximum that customers can claim for theft or damage.
Insurance products also differ on issues relating to piste closure, avalanche closure and skiing off-piste, according to moneysupermarket.com.
Peter Gerrard, the site's head of insurance research, said: "Embarking on a winter sports holiday can be costly, especially when you add on all the necessary extras, but comprehensive cover needn't be expensive.
"Brits that save their hard earned cash for a snow-filled adventure must ensure they are adequately insured; it is important to scour the small-print before travelling to avoid any nasty surprises on the slopes. I advise Brits looking to insure their winter sports holidays not to assume more money equals better cover."
Europe is one of the world's leading regions for winter sports holidays, with resorts in France, Austria, Switzerland and other destinations full of skiers and snowboarders every year.
