Austria will soon begin welcoming people on
skiing holidays and other snow-sport trips as its winter season gets underway.
With an 80cm layer of snow, the resort of Obergurgl got its winter period underway today (November 14th) and marked the occasion with the launch of 'Cirque des Montagnes La Passion'.
This series of events will include art exhibitions, live music concerts, dance shows, comedy performances and plenty more to entertain holidaymakers.
On the Hintertux glacier, skiers and snowboarders will soon be taking advantage of 120cm of fresh snow and also visiting the Ice Palace, a display of frozen crystals and ice forms that comprise an impressive structure.
Another major skiing area in Austria in Nassfeld, which will begin its winter season on November 29th.
From December 12th to 14th this area will host the University of Snow event, which will include extreme pursuits such as airboarding and snow-biking, as well as an MTV party.
