Dubai voted world's best travel destination
Dubai was voted the world's leading holiday destination at the World Travel Awards final in the Turks and Caicos Islands on December 2nd.
As well as receiving the award for the best travel location in the world, Dubai was named the best cruise port in the industry and saw the Burj Al Arab voted the leading hotel.
Another big winner at the World Travel Awards was Singapore, with Changi Airport named the world's leading air travel hub, Singapore Airlines voted the best air carrier and the Pan Pacific Singapore receiving the award for the leading business hotel.
Other airlines to pick up accolades included Lufthansa (best economy class), Etihad Airways (best first class), Qatar Airways (best business class) and Air Berlin (best budget carrier).
In the regional award categories, London was named the leading destination in Europe and the Alpenroyal hotel in Italy was voted the continent's best ski holiday destination.
Cape Town picked up the top destination honour in the Africa section of the awards, along with Sydney in Australasia, New York in North America and Rio de Janeiro in South America.
