Record month for Birmingham Airport
Birmingham Airport has announced that it saw its busiest November on record last month, with a total of 620,283 passengers using its two terminals.
The overall traffic figure comprised 527,727 scheduled travellers and 92,556 people on charter flights, representing a total increase of 1.6 per cent on November 2007.
Paul Kehoe, chief executive officer of Birmingham Airport, said the record month was "great news", particularly in light of the current economic conditions.
He added: "The airport continues to perform above the national average, with figures once again looking likely to be considerably down across the majority of other UK airports.
"However, the outlook for the coming months looks challenging for the entire industry and we cannot expect Birmingham to be immune to the economic slowdown."
A number of scheduled flight destinations from Birmingham Airport saw passenger growth in November, including Alicante, Prague and Dubai.
This month will see Turkish Airlines launching new direct flights from Birmingham Airport to Istanbul.
