British Airways, Japan Airlines boost codeshare deal
Japan Airlines has reached a deal with British Airways to extend the carriers' existing codeshare agreement.
The two airlines, which are both members of the oneworld alliance, first began their codeshare operations in February 2004.
From January 14th, Japan Airlines will offer codeshare flights operated by British Airways from Heathrow Airport to Lisbon, as well as four destinations in the UK - Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle.
Passengers are expected to benefit from the deal by seeing smoother connections between Lisbon and the UK destinations to Japan via London.
The agreement brings the total number of European cities served by Japan Airlines to 31, with flights also in operation to destinations including Amsterdam, Paris, Rome and Madrid.
With routes to some 216 airports in 34 countries, the Tokyo-based operator is the second largest airline group in Asia in passenger terms and the largest in terms of sales.
