SAS launches eco-friendly plane on Copenhagen flights
SAS has deployed the next-generation Bombardier CRJ900 plane on its flights from Birmingham Airport to Copenhagen.
The CRJ900 is the most fuel-efficient plane in its class and is also four times quieter than its predecessor on the route linking Birmingham Airport to Copenhagen.
Passenger benefits on the aircraft include more spacious seats, larger storage facilities, bigger windows and a new LED lighting system.
Lars-Ove Filipson, SAS general manager in the UK and Ireland, said: "Birmingham International is the premier gateway between the Midlands and Scandinavia and is a key airport for SAS in the UK.
"The introduction of the NextGen CRJ900 shows our commitment to the route and will help us maintain the high standards of punctuality that SAS is known for."
Birmingham Airport chief executive Paul Kehoe said that the use of the new plane would "improve the local climate" for residents and also provide a better quality service for people travelling to Copenhagen.
SAS offers flights from Heathrow Airport, Manchester Airport, Edinburgh Airport and other UK hubs to Scandinavian destinations including Oslo, Stockholm and Stavanger.
