Bmi, Air Malta sign codeshare deal
Bmi and Air Malta have announced a codeshare agreement that is expected to "significantly increase" accessibility to Malta from the UK.
The deal will see increased connectivity to the Mediterranean island from bmi's regional airports and access for Air Malta passengers to bmi's destinations in the Middle East and elsewhere.
Air Malta's flights to Brussels and Amsterdam will be part of the agreement, as will bmi connections to destinations in the UK via Heathrow Airport and Manchester Airport.
Dr Brock Friesen, Air Malta's chief commercial officer, said: "Today we are continuing to enhance the network of destinations offered to and from Malta. We are expecting this agreement to lead to more tourist arrivals from the UK as together with our codeshare partner, bmi, we are offering easier flight connections to Malta."
Martyn Bridger, bmi's commercial director, added: "We are pleased to enter this codeshare partnership with Air Malta, providing both leisure and business customers alike with access to our strong domestic route network and growing range of mid-haul destinations."
The first Air Malta and bmi codeshare flight launched today (January 22nd).
