Chopin tour route opened in Poland
Flights to Poland could prove a popular option among classical music fans this year following the opening of a new tourist route that visits locations in the country associated with the composer and pianist Frederic Chopin.
The tour has been designed by the regional tourist organisation of Mazovia, the area of Poland where Chopin was born and raised, to mark the 200th anniversary of his birth.
It begins in Warsaw and visits destinations including Milanowek and Niepokalanow before heading to Sochaczew, where Chopin gave some of his earliest performances.
Tourists will also be able to visit the musician's birthplace in Zelazowa Wola and see where he was baptised in Brochow.
Ewa Binkin, acting director of the national tourist office of Poland, said: "At a time when we are celebrating Chopin's 200th birthday, this tour gives visitors to the region a unique insight to his life.
"It gives people the opportunity to walk in his footsteps in a wonderful part of the country."
Holidaymakers can catch flights to Warsaw with major carriers including LOT Polish Airlines, KLM and British Airways.
