Lufthansa has expanded the range of
travel technology available to its passengers by enabling the use of mobile boarding passes on its flights from
Bristol Airport.
The facility will be available on the airline's direct
flights from Bristol Airport to Frankfurt, as well as to most onward destinations throughout
Europe.
Passengers with internet-enabled mobile phones can have their boarding passes sent by email or text message, which will include relevant information such as the customer's name, flight number and departure time.
Using the barcode on their boarding pass, travellers can move through airport security checkpoints and board the aircraft without needing a paper document.
People who do not have an internet-enabled phone or those who are travelling to destinations not covered by the mobile boarding pass scheme can still check in at home and use the Lufthansa 'home print' boarding card option.
Lufthansa successfully launched the mobile boarding pass facility on about 1,000 daily flights out of
Germany to almost 400 European destinations in September.
The technology will be introduced from more departure points in Europe over the coming months.
