Inflight mobile company hosts 100,000th user
Inflight mobile service provider AeroMobile has announced that it recently hosted its 100,000th user.
The milestone was passed during an Emirates flight to Singapore from Dubai on February 15th.
AeroMobile said that the development confirms a "dramatic increase" in inflight calls this year, with the first 50,000 users hosted in the first nine months of the service and the second 50,000 recorded in less than two months.
Bjorn-Taale Sandberg, chief executive of the company, said: "As the service availability has broadened, the number of users has shot up from 10,000 a month at the end of 2008 to 25,000 a month so far this year and it's rising rapidly as each day goes by.
"The sharp increase is not due only to the wider availability as our system is rolled out across the Emirates fleet, but the acceptance from passengers of what a valuable and stable service it is."
AeroMobile technology is currently available on 31 Emirates aircraft, which operate more than 350 weekly flights from Dubai to destinations all over the world.
The service provider announced towards the end of 2008 that it had also won contracts with Qantas and Malaysia Airlines.
