New museum to open in France
People planning holidays in France this summer will be able to visit a new museum in the country's Poitou-Charentes region.
The Cartoon Museum, set to open in June, will offer an exploration of the cartoon genre ranging from old favourites such as Asterix and Tintin to contemporary Japanese anime.
As well as presenting a permanent collection exploring the history and development of the cartoon, the museum will host regular temporary exhibitions on various themes and topics.
To mark the opening of the museum in Angouleme, a cartoon trail will be organised throughout the town, giving visitors the chance to see examples of art installed on street corners and walls.
Angouleme boasts other attractions including a Byzantine-Romanesque cathedral, while the Poitou-Charentes region is also home to the port town of La Rochelle.
Flights to La Rochelle are available with Flybe, while nearby Bordeaux is served by British Airways and easyJet.
