New York to host 42-mile cycling event
New York City will play host to avid cyclists from around the world in May for the Five-Boro Bike Tour.
Set to take place on May 3rd this year, this event sees 30,000 bike riders embarking on a 42-mile tour around the city, making it the biggest recreational cycling event in America.
Starting in lower Manhattan, the tour heads north to Central Park and on to Harlem and the Bronx before returning south along the river.
Participants will then ride through Queens and Brooklyn before making the climb up and down the Verrazano-Narrows bridge, which will take them to the finish line at Staten Island.
Places on the New York tour are limited to 30,000, so people hoping to take part are encouraged to register their interest as soon as possible on the event's official website.
The tour is organised by Bike New York, which is also overseeing separate cycling events in Harlem, Long Island and New Jersey this year.
