Czech Airlines carries more passengers in 2008
Czech Airlines carried more than 5.6 million passengers in 2008, an increase of 2.4 per cent on the previous year, it has been announced.
Some 4.8 million of the airline's customers used scheduled flights last year, representing an increase of 1.8 per cent year-on-year and accounting for more than 70 per cent of the airline's revenue.
The most popular scheduled destinations in the Czech Airlines network were Paris, Moscow, Amsterdam, Madrid and London.
Nearly 846,000 passengers caught charter flights with the airline in 2008, with the majority travelling to the leading destinations of Hurghada, Antalya, Sharm el Sheikh, Heraklion and Bourgas.
Czech Airlines recently announced that it will boost its service linking Prague to Toronto in Canada this summer.
Between May and mid-October, the airline will operate four weekly flights between the two cities, adding up to a total of 156 services during the summer, 44 per cent more than last year.
